Korean BBQ Fried Chicken
This recipe is a quick and easy dupe for KFC dunked wings which is pretty much the only thing I
ever order there! This recipe is perfect for a quick homemade weekday dinner and is full of flavour!
1. I start off by marinating the chicken using my "lazy" buttermilk recipe which is simply natural yoghurt, that's it. This makes the chicken super tender and juicy and also adds flavour to it.
2. I also add spices and some ketchup for added flavour and place it in the freezer for a few minutes to help all the flavour get into the chicken.
3. Next, I lightly coat the chicken in some flour mixed with some of my favourite spices, and at the same time, i place all of my sauce ingredients in a saucepan to get the sweet and sticky glaze going.
4. I like to use a meat tenderizer to flatten my chicken breast before i cut it as this makes the chicken more tender but also mean the chicken will cook fast and more evenly if its the same size and thickness. I also like using this recipe on bite sized diced chicken breast but you can use this recipe on any cut of chicken you like.
The trick with making crispy chicken is to use high heat. This makes the chicken crisp up nicely while still keeping it juicy and tender inside. It also means that this recipe is super quick as you only really need to fry the chicken for a few minutes on each side! Remember not to over cook your chicken or it will be dry and tough on the inside.
Finally, pour over the sauce and mix it in well with the chicken on medium heat and voila.
